Nifty utility

I don’t know how behind I am on this but I stumbled across this nifty little app. OS X has a similar app built for it that uses flickr (couldn’t get it to work for some reason). What I like in OS X is that i can randomize my high res wallpapers I’ve collected over the years. I like to have them randomized on my macbook to get that nice fresh desktop feel every time I log on. I have yet to find something that does this for windows for files locally (possibly a new project for PD?). Let me know if you know of utility that does this in windows.

As for phalanx updates I have nothing new to report since I’ve been working away behind the scenes on three different projects which includes the websites voting system.

Some progress

Well, I’ve found time to get the Site layout updated to something a little more solid and a little less dark. I’m still currently working on the registration and voting systems which will hopefully be up soon. Criticism is always welcome.

uh yeah… so thats all for now,

Site Launched!

Today I uploaded the Phalanx homepage. There is still A LOT of work to be done. Basically what is on here now is a basic layout and some project info in the works. Over the next few days i will be adding functionality to the site for registration voting, and user interface. I’m excited to get registrations open. Any feedback on the layout and suggestions are much appreciated :)

till next time,

Hello Everyone….uh I mean….err…World!

Ok, so this blogging thing is new to me. I’m not a huge fan of the whole blogging thing. I never owned a diary…and I find this to be just about as weird. I don’t think I’m a huge fan of blogs really, though occasionally I find and read a good blog written by some expert on something (if anyone knows of any they think i would like, let me know!). Generally I don’t like blogs because there usually loaded with some assclown’s opinion on life or some topic that they have become self-proclaimed experts on. Usually no one other than other assclowns care to read that junk. You wont find that here. hopefully, and if I step outa line…slap me with a comment.

So why am i doing this? Well there are web logs (I don’t even like the word ‘blog’) out there that are very helpful and I like web development and software in general. So much actually that i went and spent a few years on getting a degree in computer science and minor in math/stats! So I decided to start a few mainly open source projects in order to sorta “give back” for all the help I received over the years from very patient developers in person and online :). This Development log will help me 1) Keep on track with project goals by making myself update this blog at least once a week, 2) Allow me to think out loud for people looking to learn or for phalanx updates and get user feedback, and 3) Allow me to help as many people as I can as I will do my best to reply to most people’s questions in the comments.

So this post was just to give a quick intro and I’m excited and looking forward to working on the Phalanx Design project with everyone. Stay tuned for project details and plans sometime this week or next week!
